The photography agency Magnum Photos has teamed up with The Photography Show to produce ‘30 Under 30‘, a new competition aimed at identifying some of the world’s best emerging documentary photographers. Supported by IdeasTap, the competition will help expose the work of these young photographers to a wider network of industry professionals.

Open worldwide to photographers between the age of 18 and 30, entrants are invited to submit five documentary photographs from a narrative project. The judging panel, consisting of Magnum photographers David Hurn and Alex Webb alongside Olivier Laurent from The British Journal of Photography, will be looking for a clear storyline, technique, execution, concept, originality and the ability to communicate their project successfully.

Submissions are open until 12th January 2014. The judges will shortlist 60 entrants, and the final 30 will officially be announced at The Photography Show on 4th March 2014.

Competition prizes include an exhibition of winning work at The Photography Show, alongside an official Award ceremony hosted by Magnum Photos. Winners will also participate in an exclusive ’30 Under 30′ Portfolio Review event, where they will receive critiques from a number of leading professionals from the editorial, commercial, gallery and publishing sectors.
